Luis Suarez admits he would like to return to former club one dayPublished October 25, 2016
Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has spoken about the future and his plans beyond the Catalan club. He’s the most prolific forward in Europe having just collected the Golden Shoe for his 40 La Liga goals last season. However, Suarez doesn’t expect to end his playing career at Barcelona. He didn’t strictly say where he would like to end it but there is one club he would like to return to before he hangs up his boots. To say thank you.
No, it’s not Liverpool. Sorry to all the Liverpudlians out there reading this with hope in their hearts. He had fun in Merseyside but he feels that he owes more to Ajax. It was there that Suarez attracted the attention of Liverpool after scoring 111 times in 159 appearances in all competitions. He was a goal machine.
He was quoted by the Mirror in the midst of a nostalgic reverie: “Obviously, I would like to return to Ajax some day. It would just be a thank you. It is thanks to that club that made me famous in Europe.”
That might be a few years away yet but it’s a tantalizing prospect for the Dutch giants to look forward to. Suarez has scored 94 in 109 games for Barcelona since his £65 million transfer in 2014. It was money very well spent.
Since Suarez made his debut for Barcelona, MSN have scored 274 goals and made 138 assists together... in just 125 games. That is silly. pic.twitter.com/iadXztY5yD— Coral (@Coral) October 25, 2016
