Barcelona star set to stay after verbally agreeing to £35m-per-year contract
Concerns over Lionel Messi Barcelona future look to be allaying with the Argentine superstar set to sign a new bumper £35m-per-year deal at the Camp Nou, per The Sun.
Messi, now 29, has been with the Blaugrana since arriving as a 13-year-old in 2000. He has developed into arguably the club’s most important ever player, leading them to countless titles and being named the world’s best player five times.

The player himself has always maintained he will stay with the Catalans until he is not wanted, but speculation of a departure has recently begun to growing, with his current contract running out in 2018.
There have also been murmurs of discontent in Messi’s camp towards the club in recent months, but according to the report, via Mundo Deportivo, claims the club have sounded out his father and agent, Jorge, to discuss a deal that would see him made the highest paid player at the club.
New contracts have recently been signed by Neymar, Javier Mascherano and Sergio Busquets, and it seems the club is intent on tying down its prized asset as soon as possible.
