Barcelona confirm they are close to completing £172m deal to sign world-class pair: Transfers should be resolved in days
Barcelona are on the verge of filling the massive gap left after Neymar’s departure to Paris Saint Germain. The Spanish giants have been pursuing Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele, and could splash £172m for the two players.
The Blaugrana’s General Manager Pep Segura claims the club are ‘close’ to completing the signings before the summer transfer window closes. This comes just after Barca’s 5-1 aggregate defeat against Real Madrid in the Super Cup. Barcelona are desperately in need of reinforcements as they attempt to overcome their rivals in La Liga.

Liverpool have rejected two bids for the Brazilian star, maintaining he’s not for sale, but this has not stopped Barca from continuing their pursuit for the 25-year-old playmaker.
Coutinho handed in a transfer request last week in a bid to push a move, adding further uncertainty at Anfield. Barcelona are hoping to return to the table with an improved offer to make Coutinho the second highest paid transfer after Neymar.
Other reports suggest Barca agreed to a fee for Borussia Dortmund’s Dembele to bring him to Nou Camp. The 20-year-old Frenchman was handed an internal suspension by the Yellow and Black after skipping training last week.
While it is nearly impossible to replace Neymar, Coutinho and Dembele could provide excellent additions to the Blaugrana. Both have proven to be top-class footballers in their respective leagues and are eager to make a name in the Catalan city.
