Barcelona to complete STUNNING £102m Transfer Within 72 HoursPublished August 9, 2017
Barcelona have reportedly reached an agreement with Liverpool for Phillipe Coutinho, according to ESPN.
The La Liga giants have been pursuing the Brazilian playmaker, and after their initial bid of £72m rejected, strong reports in Spain suggest the two clubs have come to a principle agreement.
The initial fee of £81.6m will be paid for the 25-year-old, with an additional bonus package which has the potential to reach £27.2m in extra payments over the duration of his time in Barcelona. This comes just days after Brazilian superstar Neymar left the club for Paris Saint Germain in a world-record transfer of £198m.
This deal will make Coutinho the second most expensive player in football history. The Catalan giants will be hoping the Brazilian attacking midfielder can replace Neymar, and help win more titles alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
The Merseyside club finished fourth last season, and will be playing in the Champions League. Despite Jurgen Klopp insisting the Liverpool star was not for sale, the club were handed a deal too good to resist. This massive move will allow the club to have time before the summer transfer window closes to search for a replacement and buy several top footballers.
