Atletico Madrid chief denies star set for summer exit
Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo says striker Antoine Griezmann will not be departing the Vicente Calderon this summer, per Sky Sports.
The Frenchman has developed into one of the world’s best players since joining Atleti from Real Sociedad in 2014, finishing behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the race for FIFA’s Best Player award for 2016.
But the report says that, while Manchester United are known to be keen on triggering the £85million buyout clause in the 25-year-old’s contract, Cerezo is confident he will stay in Madrid.

“Manchester United?” Cerezo said when asked about Griezmann’s potential exit by reporters, before jokingly adding: “Small team.
“I believe in the contracts that people sign, that goes for [Diego] Simeone and Griezmann.”
In an interview with Cadena COPE earlier this week, Cerezo had reiterated his desire to keep Griezmann at the club.
“Every time I see Antoine I give him a hug,” he said. “Antoine is a fantastic player and loves life at Atletico.”
Griezmann’s current deal runs until 2021 and he has scored 15 times in 31 games this season.
