Arsenal star turned down £77m mega move in the summer
Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has revealed that he turned down a £77m mega move in the summer.
The German revealed that it was actually a Chinese club who had offered that kind of money for the player, but he was firm in his response that he did not want to play in China.
Ozil has become one of the best midfielders in world football and has taken his game to a whole new level in North London with Arsenal.
Speaking about the summer deal, Ozil explained: “I don’t want to play in China no matter how much they’re willing to pay. No way.”
Unfortunately, much like his teammates, Mesut has struggled during the season and the Gunners currently sit in 7th place.
Arsene Wenger’s future also remains unclear and there is a toxic atmosphere around the club for the first time in an awfully long time.
Whether Mesut Ozil will leave in the summer is another question, with his contract being run down as a contract standoff continues between club and player.
Alexis Sanchez is also in a similar position, with the club unable to agree a deal with the player who could well leave in the summer for rivals Chelsea or Manchester City after both registered their interest in the player.
