Arsenal to move for £50m man if Sanchez chooses to leave the EmiratesPublished January 27, 2017
Arsenal will move for Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus if Alexis Sanchez decides to leave the club this summer, according to reports.
With contract extension talks currently at an impasse and Sanchez demanding around £250,000 per week in wages, the Gunners are wary that they could lose their talismanic attacker on a free transfer at the end of next season.
Should no progress be made between now and the end of the current campaign, Arsenal may decide to cash in on their prized asset. Manchester City, Atletico Madrid and Juventus are all believed to be monitoring the situation with intent, while Chinese Super League clubs may also enter the race for his signature.
As such, Arsene Wenger’s recruitment team are already drawing up contigency plans for the Chilean’s potential exit. Whoscored’s Emanuele Giulianelli claims that their top target is none other that German international Reus who, despite injury problems, remains one of Europe’s most highly-rated attackers.
The 27-year-old would certainly not come cheap, though. He has two years to run on his current deal at Signal Iduna Park and may be considered an indispensable part of Thomas Tuchel’s team moving forward.
Giulanelli adds that this would not perturb Arsenal chiefs, and a possible £50m bid has already been discussed with manager Wenger.
Reus has produced 80 goals and 59 assists during his time with the Rheinland club.
