Arsenal forward explains why he missed the Bayern Munich game
Arsenal fans were confused when forward Danny Welbeck was named in their starting eleven to face Bayern Munich, only to see Olivier Giroud replace him.
Fans feared he was injured – it wouldn’t be the first time, and almost certainly won’t be the last, but Welbeck took to social media to clarify just what was up – and it was a tiny bit of good news for Arsenal fans, who saw their side hammered.
He said: “No injury, no tweak, just ill at the wrong moment,
“Devastated I couldn’t play tonight.”
Arsenal fans seem to have even more anger towards their manager after the shocking loss, and it marks yet another occasion they’ve been dumped out of the Champions League at Bayern’s hands – and with a 5-1 score as well.
The fact that the side managed to ship ten goals – even with a terrible referee and being down to ten men is inexcusable for the majority of the fans, and seeing Alexis Sanchez laughing on the bench for the second time in a week won’t have gone down well either.
