Disgruntled Arsenal fans have taken to social media after reports claim that transfer target Gonzalo Higuain is closing in on a summer move to Juventus.

The Argentine striker has long been on the wish-list of Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, with the 28-year-old setting a Serie A record last season, with 36 goals in 35 league games to help Napoli finish as runners-up behind Juventus.

It had been reported by many in the press that the North London club had stepped up their interest in the player, and were deliberating whether or not to bid the £60million asking price that Napoli are believed to have set.

But it seems that Arsene Wenger’s hesitancy has proved costly as reports coming out of trusted Italian transfer site Di Marzio, have claimed that the Argentine international is on the brink of signing for Serie A giants Juventus, with the Turin side ready to offer the astronomical amount required in order to prize the striker away from the Stadio San Paolo.

Whilst we wait to see how this transfer unfolds, for Arsenal fans, this seems like a case of same story different day. Every transfer window the club seems to have links with various big name strikers in world football, but a deal very rarely materialises.

It is well known that a striker is Arsenal’s main transfer priority this summer, and with the club already failing in their attempts to lure Leicester’s Jamie Vardy to the Emirates, missing out on Gonzalo Higuain would represent another blow in Arsenal’s forward chase.

The thought of starting the new Premier League season with Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott, and new Japanese signing Takuma Asano as the club’s forward choices has clearly not gone down very well in North London.
