Arsenal to cut ties with two huge stars to fund revamp this summer
Arsenal will not renew the contracts of either Alexis Sanchez or Mesut Ozil this summer, instead deciding to cash in on both to fund a new squad, which Arsene Wenger will oversee, per the Daily Mirror.
Both stars will enter the last year of their contracts in the summer, and after Wenger admitted the club will hold off on discussing renewals, fresh speculation of summer departures has been sparked.
Wenger himself may leave the club, with his deal running out, but the reports claim the Frenchman will stay at the Emirates Stadium despite growing frustrations from fans at his tenure.
The Gunners have not won the Premier League since 2004 and many believe they are going backwards under the 67-year-old, who has been at the helm for the last 21 years.
Both Sanchez and Ozil have been linked with other clubs, and will be available on cut-price deals in the summer. The former’s situation has been under more scrutiny of late, with a training ground bust up apparently resulting in the player being dropped for the recent defeat at Liverpool.
Both players are nursing injuries at the moment, but have travelled to join up with Chile and Germany on international duty.
