Antoine Griezmann makes huge statement about Man United move
Manchester United could be set to face a huge blow over their transfer of Antoine Griezmann, with the Atletico Madrid player calling the Vicente Calderon ‘home’.
The player has been almost incessantly linked with a move away from the La Liga side over the last couple of years, and since a stunning 2016 by everyone bar Cristiano Ronaldo’s standards, Griezy has been attracting interest more than ever before.
Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United are all keen on him, but with rumours he had already agreed a fee with United and the ownership of the number seven shirt, people thought it was almost a done deal.
However, the player’s latest comments might cast a fair bit of doubt on that, with Jose Mourinho’s men desperate for a world class star to add to their squad this summer – and one who will live up to his reputation as well, unlike some.
Atleti meanwhile are facing a period of uncertainty, with La Liga results not as good as they once were, a title race looking out of the question, a stadium move on the cards and their manager and best player both linked heavily with departures.
Griezmann’s words might just be for show and to at least dampen the rumours until the end of the season, so he can focus on progressing in the Champions League with Atleti and then make his big money move – or they might be genuine, however, it’s hard to get over the fact that the Frenchman seems to have outgrown Atleti and needs to move on for the sake of his own career progression.
