Ladies Day Races at Cheltenham

The Neptune Investment Management Novices Hurdle gets Ladies Day off to a flyer in the novice hurdling division and some of the best jumping prospects in the business.

This race has produced hurdling greats like Istabraq and Hardy Eustace, not to mention 2015 Champion Hurdler Faugheen, so it is very much a race to keep a very close eye on and have your notebooks out for in terms of finding horses to follow next season.

The likes of bumper winner Ballyandy and Moon Racer look promising for the home defence in the 2017 Neptune.

The RSA Chase at 2.10pm is another top class novice race for the best staying chase prospect and this season it is sure to develop into a really fascinating version of the race over the extended three mile distance. It acts as a springboard for the best staying chasers around and it takes a real classy slugger to win it.

The handicap puzzle that is the Coral Handicap Hurdle takes place next before the feature race and is a 2m5f cavalry charge where you can be sure any one of twenty horses will go there with realistic chances of winning. In terms of Ladies Day free bets and value, you should be looking out for enhanced each way terms in this race. 4 places is the standard, but bookmakers will come up with 5 each way places, dare we say even one or two might pop up with SIX each way places for this? Keep an eye out.

At 3.30pm the Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase takes the attention of everyone and the unbeaten Douvan is trading currently at around even money to fulfill his destiny.

The 7 year old seems to have it all, but in Sprinter Sacre he will be taking on arguably the greatest two mile steeplechaser of all time.  A horse who rose from the ashes following a prolonged health scare and drop in form, to win the 2016 Champion Chase impressively. Nicky Henderson reports him to be in rude health ahead of the campaign ahead and there’s little doubting that the Douvan Vs Sprinter Sacre rivalry is one of the most exciting aspects of the 2016-2017 National Hunt season.

The cross-country chase over 3m7f is a unique and popular spectacle taking place next at 4.10pm – look out for whatever Enda Bolger is running! The Fred Winter Handicap Hurdle at 4.50pm is the JCB Triumph Hurdle consolation race, but remains one of the best and most hotly contested handicaps of the season. Closing out Ladies Day at the Cheltenham Festival is the Weatherbys Champion Bumper, where we get to see the very best bumper horses from both sides of the Irish Sea taking the stage to see which ones are the best hurdling and chasing prospects for seasons to come.

Ladies Day is a fun day for all racegoers at the Cheltenham Festival and of course it is bolstered by a wealth of top class National Hunt racing action. Enjoy
